Tokyo-based media-to-tech giant Sony Corporation has hiked its operating profit forecast for the fiscal year ending March 2026 by 8 % to ¥1.43 trillion (about US $9.5 billion), bolstered by a smaller‑than‑expected hit from U.S. tariffs and strong performance in its entertainment and semiconductor arms. In the July–September quarter, Sony’s operating profit climbed 10 % to ¥429 billion as its music segment (which includes anime) and chip‑business saw higher sales. Notably, the success of the animated film Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle was cited as a key contributor in the entertainment space. Sony’s projected tariff‑related burden for the year shrank to ¥50 billion from an earlier estimate of ¥70 billion — a shift that helped uplift sentiment. Meanwhile, the company plans to repurchase up to 35 million shares (roughly ¥100 billion) as investor confidence strengthens and its shares rose around 6 % on the news. #Sony #BusinessGrowth #AnimeBoom #TariffRelief #SlimScan #GrowthStocks #CANSLIM
