Sony Honda Mobility, the electric vehicle joint venture between Sony Group and Honda Motor, revealed a new prototype EV at the CES 2026 trade show in Las Vegas on January 5, 2026, even as many traditional automakers scale back their EV plans amid weakening demand. The company’s CEO, Yasuhide Mizuno, said the new prototype builds on its existing AFEELA EV platform and could lead to a next-generation production model aimed at U.S. customers as early as 2028. Sony Honda Mobility also reaffirmed that deliveries of its first EV, the AFEELA 1, are expected to begin later this year in California, with plans to expand to other U.S. markets such as Arizona by 2027. The AFEELA 1, introduced last year with a starting price around $89,900, highlights the venture’s strategy of combining Honda’s automotive expertise with Sony’s software and entertainment technologies to compete in the EV market. Despite broader industry challenges such as tariff increases and the rollback of EV tax incentives in the U.S., Sony Honda Mobility is pushing forward with its vision of “mobility as a creative entertainment space.” #SonyHondaMobility #CES2026 #ElectricVehicles #Afeela1 #SlimScan #GrowthStocks #CANSLIM
