Samsung Electronics has announced plans to significantly expand its use of Google’s Gemini artificial intelligence technology across its mobile devices this year, aiming to reach around **800 million units in 2026**, compared with about **400 million in 2025**, according to the company’s co‑CEO.
T.M. Roh, who took on the co‑CEO role last November, said Samsung intends to integrate AI into all products, services and functions as quickly as possible to stay competitive in the rapidly evolving global AI landscape. Expanding the reach of AI features powered by Google’s Gemini—such as search assistance, image editing, language translation and productivity tools—is part of Samsung’s broader strategy to reclaim market leadership from competitors like Apple and counter rising competition from Chinese manufacturers.
Samsung’s Galaxy AI brand awareness surged from roughly 30 % to 80 % within a year, reflecting growing consumer familiarity with its AI tools. While the broader semiconductor business benefits from memory chip shortages, smartphone margins face pressure that could lead to higher prices. Despite slower growth in the foldable segment, Samsung remains optimistic about mainstream adoption in the coming years.
