Germanyâs defence powerhouse Rheinmetall AG has set a bold goal: to increase its revenue roughly fiveâfold by 2030, targeting about âŽ50âŊbillion (ââŊUSâŊ$58âŊbillion) in sales, up from around âŽ9.8âŊbillion in 2024.
The company also aims to achieve an operating margin beyond 20âŊ% by the end of the decade. The growth strategy is driven by surging demand across NATO nations â especially for weapons, ammunition and vehicle systems â and its home market of Germany.
To support that leap, Rheinmetall plans a major restructuring beginning in 2026. That will include the launch of dedicated segments for naval, airâdefence and digital operations, and the planned divestment of its civilian powerâsystems business. For example, the new naval division acquired LÞrssen Groupâs warship business, targeting up to âŽ5âŊbillion in sales by 2030.
The company says threats such as increasing drone attacks in Europe and a general âcapability gapâ in airâdefence systems offer major opportunities â the firm estimates the market for protecting Germanyâs critical infrastructure alone at around âŽ81âŊbillion.
Yet the ambition comes amid heightened scrutiny: expanded arms production, the ethics of defence spending, and the broader geopolitical shifts in Europe are all under focus. Nevertheless, Rheinmetall appears poised to ride the wave of Europeâs âera of reâarmament,â as analysts describe it.
