QNX, a division of BlackBerry Ltd, announced today that its QNX Everywhere initiative — first launched at CES 2025 to broaden access to its embedded software platform — has made significant strides in growing a global developer ecosystem. The initiative has issued over 12,000 non‑commercial licenses for the QNX® Software Development Platform (SDP) 8.0 and engaged more than 100 academic partners worldwide, including collaborations with leading institutions such as the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). The program has directly involved over 6,000 students, integrating QNX tools and technologies into engineering curricula to help bridge the global shortage of skilled embedded systems developers.
QNX Everywhere offers free non‑commercial access to both QNX SDP 8.0 and QNX Hypervisor 8.0, empowering students, hobbyists, and professionals to explore, build, and innovate using the very tools deployed in safety‑critical sectors like automotive, industrial automation, robotics, and medical devices. To support learning at all levels, QNX has also launched free online training courses attracting thousands of registered users. Beyond licensing and education, the initiative fuels open‑source creativity with notable community projects — from motorsport electronics to robotics and gaming software. Looking ahead, QNX plans to expand pre‑built software packages and open‑source ports, making it easier for developers to start and scale embedded system projects.
