Paris, France –â€Ŋ18 Novemberâ€Ŋ2025 – Eviden, the advanced‑computing product brand of Atos Group, and AMD (NASDAQ:â€ŊAMD) have been selected to build the new exascale supercomputer named Alice Recoque. It will be the first exascale system based in France, and the second overall in Europe. The machine will deliver a computing capacity exceeding oneâ€Ŋexaflop per second — that’s a billion‑billion calculations every second — enabling a roughly fifty‑fold increase in capacity compared to the previous system, while only multiplying electrical power by five. The total cost is approximatelyâ€Ŋ₮554â€Ŋmillion over five years of operation, funded by the EuroHPC Joint Undertaking (through the Digital Europe Programme) and the “Julesâ€ŊVerne” consortium led by France (GENCI & CEA) with participation from the Netherlands (SURF) and Greece (GRNET). Aliceâ€ŊRecoque will be installed at the CEA’s Very Large Computing Center (TGCC) in France, leveraging Eviden’s BullSequanaâ€ŊXH3500 platform, AMD EPYC “Venice” CPUs, AMD Instinctâ€ŊMI430X GPUs (MI400 Series), and AMD FPGAs. A scalar compute partition will integrate the European‑developed SiPearlâ€ŊRhea2 processor. A major emphasis is placed on Europe’s technological sovereignty and energy efficiency: three‑quarters of BullSequanaâ€ŊXH3500 components have been relocated to Europe, enabling traceability, regulatory compliance and reduced geopolitical risk. The system will occupy 94 racks, yet uses 25â€Ŋ% fewer racks and components than comparable exascale systems, and achieves up to 50â€Ŋ% better energy efficiency per GPU. Aliceâ€ŊRecoque will support traditional high‑performance computing (HPC) and artificial intelligence (AI) workloads to address major scientific, industrial and societal challenges — from climate modelling and materials innovation to personalised medicine, digital twins, and foundational AI models. #exascale #supercomputing #EUtechSovereignty #HPC_AI #SlimScan #GrowthStocks #CANSLIM
