Colombian energy giant Ecopetrol S.A. said on Nov. 28, 2025 that it has concluded negotiations with Grenergy Renovables S.A. regarding the potential acquisition of seven companies that own solar photovoltaic projects across Colombia. The companies are located in the departments of Córdoba (3), Cesar (2), Magdalena (1), and Sucre (1). Each company holds all necessary assets, licenses, permits and agreements to develop one solar project — each with an estimated capacity of ~12.6 MWp. If all goes well, the total capacity added could reach as much as ~88.2 MWp. Ecopetrol says these potential acquisitions are intended to support its decarbonization and energy‑transition objectives under its “2040 Strategy: Energy that Transforms.” Once finalized, the added solar capacity would contribute toward its long-term target of 900 MW of self‑generated renewable energy. However, the company notes the transactions remain subject to customary conditions precedent and legal requirements. Final closing dates and transaction values will only be disclosed once each deal closes. If completed, the move will help Ecopetrol reduce reliance on external — and often high‑emission — energy purchases, boosting its use of low‑emission power for self‑consumption. #renewableenergy #solar #Ecopetrol #energytransition #SlimScan #GrowthStocks #CANSLIM
