German automaker BMW said U.S. vehicle sales fell in the fourth quarter of 2025, reflecting softer demand in the world’s largest auto market. According to the company’s statement, BMW sold 113,512 vehicles in the United States in the final three months of the year, a 3.4% drop from the 117,506 units it delivered in the same period a year earlier.
The most pronounced weakness came in electric vehicle (EV) sales, which plunged 45.5% year‑on‑year in the quarter amid subdued consumer interest. BMW said demand for EVs “softened over the course of the year, particularly in the fourth quarter,” as many buyers shifted toward plug‑in hybrid models.
However, even plug‑in hybrid sales declined by 25.6% compared with a year ago, underscoring broader challenges facing electrified models in the U.S. market. The figures highlight the ongoing struggle for EV growth amid shifting preferences and market conditions.
