Azimut Advances Major Fortin Antimony-Gold Zone at the Wabamisk Property in James Bay Region, Québec
Azimut Launches Strategic Drilling Program at Fortin Antimony-Gold Zone
LONGUEUIL, Québec, January 21, 2026 – Azimut Exploration Inc. (“Azimut” or the “Company”) (TSXV: AZM) (OTCQX: AZMTF) has announced the commencement of a significant new exploration phase at its Fortin antimony-gold zone (the “Fortin Zone”) located within the wholly owned Wabamisk Property in the Eeyou Istchee James Bay region of Québec, Canada. This stage includes a minimum 5,000-metre diamond drilling program aimed at expanding the known mineralized system and advancing the project’s potential toward future development.
Fortin Zone: A Growing Antimony-Gold System
The Fortin Zone is rapidly evolving into one of the largest antimony-bearing mineralized systems in Canada, with previous drilling delineating a mineralized body extending at least 1.8 kilometres along strike and traced vertically to 250 metres, remaining open in all directions.
Since its discovery through prospecting in 2024, Azimut has completed extensive drilling, totaling 86 holes (12,286 metres) on the Fortin Zone and nearby targets. A separate gold target immediately south of and parallel to the Fortin Zone is also being tested through drilling. Additionally, late-2025 drilling at the Rosa gold zone (located about 15 kilometres west of Fortin) completed 26 holes (3,633 metres), with assay results still pending.
2026 Exploration Outlook
New Drilling Initiative
The new phase of drilling, using two rigs and totaling at least 5,000 metres, is designed with two main goals:
- Expand the mineralized body at greater depths and along strike.
- Further delineate high-grade lenses using a combination of incremental and in-fill holes to improve geological understanding.
One of the primary focuses of the drilling program is to test the Fortin Zone at depth for potential gold enrichment associated with antimony-gold vertical zonation—a geological phenomenon observed in other antimony-gold deposits worldwide. Preliminary 3D geological modelling of the Fortin Zone is currently underway to support this effort.
Metallurgical Testing and Market Study
Azimut has engaged SGS Canada, a global testing and inspection leader, to undertake initial metallurgical testing of mineralized material from the Fortin Zone. These tests will provide key data on how the mineralized rock might respond to processing. SGS will also assess the global market environment for potential antimony products, helping inform future development and strategic decisions.
Further Assessment of Gold Targets
The Company’s recent results have triggered a comprehensive reassessment of the Wabamisk Property’s gold potential. Planned work includes ground geophysics, prospecting, and drilling on multiple high-priority targets. A significant underexplored corridor of roughly 15 kilometres between the Fortin and Rosa zones has been identified as a key area for further evaluation.
Drilling Results and Highlights
The press release presenting the latest data from the Fortin Zone includes highlights from the second delineation phase of drilling, with assay results from 35 holes (totaling 5,890 metres) completed at roughly 100-metre spacing along strike and at depth. Among these, 29 holes (about 83%) returned antimony mineralization above 0.2% Sb, and 19 holes recorded gold grades above 0.5 g/t Au.
Notable assay results from this recent phase include:
- Hole WS25-74: 0.24% Sb over 23.5 metres (including 1.33% Sb over 2.05 metres)
- Hole WS25-84: 0.19% Sb over 13.15 metres (including 0.52% Sb over 3.15 metres)
- Hole WS25-71: 1.58% Sb over 0.45 metres
Previously reported results include high-grade intersections such as:
- Hole WS25-67: 0.89% Sb and 0.65 g/t Au over 41.9 metres, including 1.84% Sb and 10.9 g/t Au in a subinterval
- Hole WS25-85: 0.74% Sb over 41 metres, including several higher-grade subintervals
The Company also reports progress on delineating the gold target immediately south of the Fortin Zone, with several drill holes yielding significant gold grades, including Hole WS25-54: 6.24 g/t Au over 2.50 metres.
Project Significance and Broader Context
Antimony is recognized as a critical mineral by governments in Canada, the United States, and Europe due to its importance in metallurgy, flame retardants, and other industrial applications, as well as supply risks. Much of global antimony production has historically come from a few countries, with China dominating production and export. Diversifying sources of antimony supply—including potential discoveries such as Fortin—could have strategic economic implications.
The Wabamisk Property, wholly owned by Azimut, covers a large area of mineral claims and includes multiple targets across different commodities. In addition to the Fortin antimony-gold zone and the Rosa gold zone, adjacent areas show potential for lithium and other metals. The strategic positioning of the property within the underexplored yet highly prospective James Bay region further enhances its exploration value.
Forward-Looking Plans
Azimut’s exploration strategy in 2026 aims to build on the encouraging results from Fortin and other targets on the Wabamisk Property. By combining expanded drilling, metallurgical insights, market studies, and new target assessments, the Company seeks to deepen geological understanding and unlock potential pathways toward defined mineral resources.
The results of this program are expected to inform future exploration phases and guide strategic decisions about potential development initiatives, partnerships, or resource evaluations.
