AAC Clyde Space Reports Q1 2026 Results With Strong Order Backlog and Near-Term Delivery Delays

AAC Clyde Space AB reported a mixed first quarter of 2026, with revenue falling year over year while its order backlog more than doubled, giving management confidence in stronger activity ahead. The small satellite technology company posted net sales of SEK 67.7 million, down from SEK 74.0 million in Q1 2025, mainly because less revenue was recognized from its backlog than expected.

Key Financial Results

EBITDA came in at SEK -2.7 million, compared with SEK 11.9 million a year earlier. EBIT was SEK -16.1 million, versus SEK -2.5 million in the prior-year period. Net result after tax was SEK -15.4 million, compared with SEK -10.2 million in Q1 2025. Basic and diluted earnings per share were SEK -2.16.

Order Backlog Becomes the Main Highlight

The strongest point in the report was AAC Clyde Space’s order backlog, which reached SEK 1.11 billion at the end of March 2026, compared with SEK 482.4 million one year earlier. This backlog is important because it gives the company a larger base of contracted work that can support future revenue, although timing of delivery and revenue recognition remains important.

CEO Points to Long-Term Momentum

CEO Luis Gomes described the quarter as a period of building momentum for the future. A major development was the signing of the long-awaited EPS-Sterna payload agreement, which the company views as a key step in its future constellation plans. Management said investments linked to larger missions could support stronger long-term growth and profitability.

Segment Performance

Data & Services

The Data & Services segment generated net sales of SEK 15.2 million, down from SEK 16.8 million. The decline was mainly tied to a lower contribution from the INFLECION Phase 1 project. AAC Clyde Space said Phase 1 was completed in April 2026 and talks for the next phase are underway, with an order expected during the second quarter of 2026.

Products & Missions

The Products & Missions segment reported net sales of SEK 59.7 million, compared with SEK 64.9 million last year. The company said a third-party component issue delayed some revenue from Q1, but the issue has been resolved and deliveries are expected in the second quarter.

Cash Position and Funding

At the end of March 2026, AAC Clyde Space had cash and cash equivalents of SEK 27.4 million. Including unused bank overdraft facilities, total available cash was SEK 41.5 million. Operating cash flow was SEK -24.4 million, slightly better than SEK -27.3 million in the same period last year.

Company Outlook

The quarter showed clear short-term pressure on profitability, but the much larger backlog suggests AAC Clyde Space has significant work lined up. The main question for investors will be how quickly the company can convert backlog into revenue and whether delayed deliveries in Q1 can be recovered during the rest of 2026.

AAC Clyde Space provides small satellite technologies, mission services, and space-based data solutions for governments, businesses, and institutions. Its applications include weather monitoring, maritime safety, security and defense, agriculture, and forestry. The company is headquartered in Uppsala, Sweden, with operations in the UK, the Netherlands, South Africa, and the United States.
